Thunder of the Saddle – Teppō Cavalry of the Sengoku Wars

When gunpowder reached the battlefields of Japan, war changed forever.

The Teppō cavalry represent the moment tradition collided with innovation. Mounted samurai armed with matchlock muskets, trained to fire from the saddle or dismount at speed, these warriors brought shock and disruption to formations that had never faced such weapons before.

This set captures the raw power and tension of early firearms warfare in the Sengoku period. Each rider is sculpted in a dynamic pose, musket raised or braced, horses in full motion across broken ground. Armour, clothing and equipment reflect late-Sengoku influences, combining practicality with status and battlefield presence.

Perfect as elite skirmishers, command bodyguards, or scenario-defining units, Teppō cavalry add narrative weight and tactical depth to any Japanese-themed tabletop force.
