FAQ

Are the miniatures painted?

Our Articulated Creations are usually fully colored and finished as shown in the pictures unless stated otherwise. However, our Tabletop Miniatures and Terrain arrive unpainted and ready for your brush. We always explicitly point this out at the end of every product description so there are no surprises when your box arrives.

How does Mad Miniatures handle scaling?

We meticulously scale all of our tabletop miniatures and terrain to what we consider visually and tactically correct for the battlefield. Because scale can be tricky across different designers, we have created a dedicated, visual breakdown to help you match your existing armies. Please check out our full Mad Scale Guide for exact measurements and details.

Do you have a brick-and-mortar shop in Brisbane?

Currently, Mad Miniatures operates out of our home workshop in Camp Hill, Brisbane. While we don't have a traditional retail storefront just yet - though we would absolutely love to open one one day! - local pick-up is completely welcome, and we are always up for a good chat about the hobby when you drop by.

How long will it take for my order to be delivered?

We print and pack in advance to keep a healthy stock of our most popular items ready on the shelves. However, with a massive and growing catalog, we do sometimes have to print pieces to order. Our standard production lead time is between 2 to 5 days depending on our current queue and the size of your order. If a delivery ever takes a bit longer, it is simply because we refuse to rush the process and only ship items that pass our rigorous quality checks.

Do you take custom orders or custom scaling?

Absolutely. If you see an item in our collection that you need upscaled or downscaled for a specific game system (like 1/72 scale historic battlefields), just reach out. While there are mechanical limits to how far an STL file can safely stretch or shrink, if it is within our technical means, we will happily calculate the math and provide a custom quote for you.

What materials do you use for your prints?

We use premium, high-impact materials chosen specifically for how they perform on the table. Our highly detailed tabletop miniatures are printed in ultra-fine, crisp resin to catch every armor plate and facial feature. For our larger structural terrain and articulated creatures, we utilize eco-friendly, plant-based PLA on our FDM printers, ensuring your buildings are incredibly durable, lightweight, and tough enough to survive years of gameplay.

Do the terrain buildings have playable interiors?

Yes! A massive focus of our terrain selection (such as our Helwick and The Frost collections) is true modular gameplay. Most of our multi-story buildings feature engineered lift-off roofs and stacking floor levels, revealing fully sculpted, highly detailed interiors so your skirmish squads or RPG parties can actually fight room-to-room. Check out our product descriptions and pictures for detailed information for every product.

Do my items arrive fully assembled?

Articulated Creatures come fully assembled unless stated otherwise in the product description. Our single-piece tabletop miniatures are generally printed as solid, complete figures (though some larger heroes, dragons and monsters may come in a couple of pieces or have separate weapons or shields). For our large-scale terrain, structures, and modular systems, items are shipped in clean, optimized component pieces. This makes them much safer to pack securely and allows you an easier time painting the interiors before final assembly.

What is the best way to assemble and glue your models?

For Resin Miniatures: Superglue (Cyanoacrylate / CA glue) is required. Standard plastic model cement will not work on resin.

For FDM/PLA Terrain: High-quality superglue works beautifully for a fast hold, or you can use specialized multi-purpose adhesives like Gorilla Glue for large structural joints.

Do the miniatures come with bases?

Yes, some designs come with a base included already. To others we add a matching, thematic base as can be seen in our grey renders of the miniature. For ultimate customization, characters and their decorative scenic bases are usually printed separately so you can paint, texturize, and flock your bases with ease before mounting your warrior. Please refer to the product description for specific details.

How do you use AI on your website and in your text?

We believe in absolute transparency, which is why we have strict internal rules regarding the use of AI in our workshop:

Our Photography is 100% Real: If you see a photograph of a product on our store, there is zero AI involved. We take real, untouched photos of our Articulated Creations outside in natural lighting. The same goes for photos of our workshop, our market stalls, and our banners. We firmly believe that a photograph should be a photograph.

Our Product Renders: The grey renders you see for our miniatures and terrain are completely untouched by AI. They are direct digital previews of the exact STL files we print, framed in their precise physical scale ratios. We do occasionally use AI colorization on these digital previews to give you an inspiring idea of what a model could look like painted—but this is strictly limited to adding color to the digital render, never changing the physical model's shape or details.

Our Communication: We do not use AI chatbots to talk to you. We dislike automated customer service as much as you do. When you message us, you are talking directly to a real member of our Brisbane team. This means you might have to wait a little longer for an answer, but you can guarantee it is always genuine.

Where We Do Use It: We utilize AI purely behind the scenes as a digital tool for administrative support, optimizing complex backend work processes, and proofreading or fine-tuning our product descriptions to keep them clear and scannable.

Are your miniatures and terrain designs generated by AI?

We actively prioritize and focus on handcrafted designs created by human artists because we believe that human ingenuity is the true heart of tabletop creativity.

When it comes to the 3D designers we partner with, the answer varies by studio:

Hand-Sculpted Assurance: For many of our prominent designers, we know with absolute certainty that no AI was used in their sculpting pipeline. When we are confident a collection is 100% hand-crafted by a digital artist, we will proudly highlight this on that specific collection or designer's page.

The Gray Areas: For other designers or specific campaigns, we cannot guarantee total exclusion; AI tools may have been utilized by the sculptor during their initial concept or development phase.

Our long-term mission remains clear: we actively seek out and champion human-crafted modeling talent, ensuring our catalog supports real artists in the tabletop community.
