Toride – The Coastal Fort
Standing steadfast against the backdrop of coastal Japan, the Toride is a testament to Edo-period ingenuity and defense. This square-shaped fort is a symbol of resilience, designed to protect the shores from both raiders and invading forces. With its robust stone base and commanding structure, the Toride serves as a cornerstone for any campaign set along the Japanese coastline.
The fort’s features are as practical as they are impressive. A sturdy base of stone forms the foundation, supporting a spacious room above. The room includes a movable entrance door and 12 windows, each equipped with functional shutters to shield against the elements—or an enemy’s gaze. Stairs in one corner ascend to the upper platform, which serves as a vantage point for defenders.
The platform itself is a masterpiece of defensive design. It provides ample space for soldiers or archers, with a central roof supported by four wooden poles. This roof offers shelter for key defenders without obstructing their field of view. Whether used for patrolling the coastline or as a last line of defense, the Toride ensures its occupants are well-prepared for any scenario.
This fort fits seamlessly into Nippon Saga campaigns, providing a critical stronghold for coastal protection. It offers a wealth of possibilities for gameplay, from staging ambushes to fending off naval invasions, all while adding authentic Japanese architecture to your tabletop adventures.
The Toride is available with a beach base that perfectly fits in with the beach set for Nippon Saga 2 which we also offer. The version with the land base is a stand alone version that can be connected to the wall system of Nippon Saga 2 that we also have in our product line.
